    About Us

Lutheran Social Services of Northern California's (LSS) mission is to offer dignity and stability to the most vulnerable in our communities by providing supportive housing services that lead to self-sufficiency. LSS envisions that our communities' most vulnerable have hope, stability, and a path to self-sufficiency.

LSS offers the hope of lives transformed to people of all faiths (or no faith) who are vulnerable because of homelessness, mental illness, addiction or disaster. Our mission is to provide services to the public at large, throughout a service area that encompasses Northern California, with offices and programs in Sacramento, San Francisco, Contra Costa and San Joaquin counties. We provide case management and support services in five permanent supportive housing sites in San Francisco, as well as to individuals in additional supportive housing sites in Contra Costa, Sacramento and San Joaquin counties.

LSS is part of a network of nearly 300 Lutheran social ministry organizations across the country. This network of Lutheran social ministry organizations—Lutheran Services in America—constitutes one of the largest non-profit care systems nationally, with combined annual operating budgets in excess of $3.5 billion.
