  • Contra Costa Family Justice Center provided hundreds of students with Back to School supplies

    September 03, 2020
CONCORD, Calif., September 2, 2020 – This summer Contra Costa Family Justice Center provided hundreds of students throughout Contra Costa County with much needed Back to School supplies.  This effort was spearheaded by Family Justice Center’s Community Fellow, Cynthia Altamirano, in cooperation with Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Walnut Creek.
Contra Costa Family Justice Center was able to provide an additional 15 Chromebooks and headsets for local families. These devices were given to children participating in the Success Academy Program, a program that provides trauma-informed academic support to students grades 1-12.  This was made possible by a network of supporters that includes Cornerstone Fellowship, Rotary Clubs of Clayton Valley and Concord Sunshine, and generous individual donors.
“The support of Cornerstone Church, the Clayton and Concord Rotary Clubs and so many of our volunteers and supporters has enabled us to grow the annual Back to School program exponentially over the years and we couldn’t have done it without all of this collaboration,” said Executive Director, Susun Kim.  Within the last 5 years, Family Justice Center’s annual Back to School program has grown from supporting 50 children the first year to now more than 400 children amongst all three centers in Antioch, Concord and Richmond.
