Concord Senior Center to Open as Cooling Center on June 3
Temperatures in the East Bay are expected to soar on Wednesday.
The Concord Senior Center is a designated Cooling Center when temperatures rise above 100 degrees. Even if the mercury doesn’t hit 100 this week, the City’s Cooling Center will open on Wednesday, June 3 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The maximum capacity for the cooling center is 50.

Older adults are vulnerable to heat illness, especially if they have heart disease or high blood pressure or take medications for depression or insomnia.
The Concord Senior Center, located at 2727 Parkside Circle in John Baldwin Park, offers an area for people to cool off from the high temperatures. However, none of the traditional Senior Center activities are being offered at this time as a result of the County’s current shelter-at-home order.
Visitors should NOT enter the center if they have been exposed to or are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have been ordered to quarantine. All visitors will have their temperature checked and asked screening questions before they can enter the building.
Social distancing and face coverings are required to access the center. Face coverings are to be worn while in the center. Visitors are invited to bring an activity as well as their own snacks and drinks. Bottled water will be provided to visitors.
