Concord Invites Residents to Provide Input on Future Tournament Sports Complex
Community workshops set for Feb. 13 and March 30

Concord, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2019) – The City of Concord invites members of the community to provide input on the feasibility and conceptual designs for a new Tournament Sports Complex at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station.

The City will be hosting two community meetings – on Wednesday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, March 30 – to discuss programming and site planning.

“The Reuse Area Plan for the former Concord Naval Weapons Station contains several recreation-focused elements that will enhance the quality of life in our community,” said Steve Voorhies, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Concord.

“A component we are particularly excited about is the area identified to host youth and amateur-level sports tournaments. The overarching themes for this project include the concepts of planning a tournament sports complex that is financially viable and sustainable, while benefiting the entire community. We encourage and invite the community’s participation as we develop our vision for this facility,” he said.
