Located in Concord, CA, Solo Opera is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit opera company and a Professional Company Member of Opera America. Originally founded in 2000, our mission is to educate, entertain, and enrich the community through our main stage opera productions, concerts, and outreach programs. Solo Opera is a performing company producing opera of the highest quality possible within our financial capabilities. At the same time, we work to remain affordable and accessible to the public. In addition to performing traditional operatic and musical repertoire, Solo Opera also focuses on 20-21st century chamber opera, short one act operas, opera in English, and new works by Bay Area composers. We have a special interest in fostering a new generation of opera lovers and bringing opera to those who may not normally be able to attend due to physical or financial limitations. We have produced 16 operas, 4 "Opera in the Park" concerts, as well as many many other concerts and galas. Upcoming season includes a collaboration with Macy's Concord, "The Twelve Days of Christmas." This holiday fundraiser takes place on Saturday December 14th at 10:30 am. The event will include a continental breakfast, concert of opera and holiday music featuring soprano Diane Squires, a fashion show, a sing-along and 12 enter to win prizes. Tickets are $22 at Eventbrite. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-twelve-days-of-christmas-tickets-75017498357. For 2020, we will be producing a one hour comedic opera in English "Scalia/Ginsburg" Aug. 14-16 at the Lesher Center for the Arts. Tickets on sale in Jan.
